You know flying is safe. So why doesn't it feel safe?
Private 1:1 help for fear of flying, focused on what you're actually frightened of.
👉 [BOOK YOUR FREE 15-MINUTE CALL]If you've read the statistics, watched videos about turbulence, tried breathing exercises or forced yourself onto planes hoping you'll eventually get used to it — and you're still frightened — you probably don't need somebody else to tell you that flying is safe.
You need help with the part of you that still reacts as though it isn't.
I work privately, one-to-one, so rather than assuming everyone with a fear of flying needs the same thing, we can focus on the particular moments, thoughts and sensations that trigger the fear for you.
Free 15-Minute Fear of Flying Call
We'll talk about:
✓ What specifically triggers your fear
✓ What you're afraid might happen
✓ Whether I think EFT is appropriate for you
✓ What I'd recommend doing next
Online via Zoom • No treatment on the call • No obligation to book afterwards
What is it about flying that frightens you?
Because “fear of flying” is actually quite a broad description.
You might be frightened that the plane will crash...but you might not. It could be turbulence that does it. Take-off. The doors closing. Not being able to get off. Feeling trapped. Not being in control.
You might be more frightened of having a panic attack on the plane than you are of the plane itself.
Perhaps you spend the entire flight monitoring every noise and movement, watching the cabin crew for signs that something is wrong.
Or maybe the worst bit happens before you've even left home. The flight sits in the back of your mind for weeks. You check the weather. You think about cancelling. You wonder whether you can get out of the trip without disappointing everyone.
Maybe you've stopped going to certain places altogether because getting there means flying.
And the really frustrating bit?
You probably already know you're not in as much danger as your body is telling you.
That doesn't necessarily make the fear stop.
You probably don't need more statistics
A lot of fear-of-flying help understandably focuses on education.
What turbulence is. Why planes stay in the air. What all those strange noises mean. How pilots are trained. How safe commercial aviation is.
And for some people, understanding those things can make an enormous difference.
But perhaps you've already done that.
You know turbulence is normal. You know the pilots are highly trained. You know millions of people fly safely every day.
And then the plane moves unexpectedly and your heart starts racing, your stomach drops out of your arse and your hands grip the armrests.
All those reassuring facts suddenly don't seem terribly reassuring.
Because there's a difference between knowing you're safe and feeling safe.
That's the bit I'm interested in.
Your fear of flying isn't necessarily the same as somebody else's
One person might be terrified of turbulence.
Another is relatively calm until the aircraft doors close.
Someone else isn't particularly frightened of the aircraft itself. They're frightened they'll have a panic attack and won't be able to escape.
For someone else, it started after one horrible flight years ago.
And sometimes there isn't an obvious explanation at all.
That's why I work privately, one-to-one.
I don't want to spend our time teaching you things you already know or working on aspects of flying that don't particularly bother you.
I want to know which moments trigger the fear, what happens in your body, what goes through your mind and, underneath all of that, what you're frightened is actually going to happen.
Because once we get away from the broad label of “fear of flying”, we can start working with your particular fear.
How I work with fear of flying
I use EFT — Emotional Freedom Techniques, often known simply as tapping.
It involves gently tapping on a sequence of points on the face and upper body while we focus on the thoughts, emotions, memories and physical sensations connected with your fear.
Part of what makes EFT interesting for fears and phobias is that we don't try to avoid the thing that frightens you. We bring the specific trigger to mind while tapping and work with the fear response as it happens.
Research into EFT for phobias has found reductions in fear and avoidance, although the evidence is still developing. One explanation researchers are exploring is that activating a fear while reducing the emotional and physical response to it may help the brain update what it has previously learned to treat as a threat.
Yes, it can look a little odd if you've never seen it before.
You don't have to believe in it.
And I'm not going to ask you to spend the session repeating that flying is safe until you somehow convince yourself. You've probably already tried that.
Instead, we get specific.
Rather than trying to work on:
“I'm scared of flying.”
we might work with:
The feeling when the engines suddenly get louder.
That horrible drop in my stomach when there's turbulence.
The moment the doors close and I realise I can't leave.
The memory of the flight where I genuinely thought something was wrong.
The thought of having a panic attack at 35,000 feet.
The feeling that I'm completely out of control.
Because those aren't necessarily the same fear. And they don't necessarily need the same approach.
I won't promise that EFT will completely remove your fear or that everybody needs the same amount of work.
That's one of the reasons I want to speak to you first.
Not sure what's actually driving your fear of flying?
That's what the first 15-minute call is for.
We'll have a quick conversation about what happens when you fly — or even think about flying — the situations that trigger the strongest reaction and what you're most afraid will happen.
By the end of the call:
✓ You'll have a clearer idea of what seems to be driving your fear — whether that's the flying itself or something more specific, such as turbulence, panic, feeling trapped or not being in control
✓ You'll know whether I think EFT is an appropriate approach for what you're experiencing
✓ Whether I think I'm the right person to help
✓ What I'd recommend as your next step
If I think I can help, I'll usually recommend a private 90-minute Fear of Flying session, which costs £195.
I'll explain what we'd focus on and why, and you can decide whether you'd like to go ahead.
If I don't think I'm the right person to help, I'll tell you that too.
There's no EFT treatment during this call and no obligation to book anything afterwards.

[BOOK MY FREE 15-MINUTE CALL]
Hi, I'm Claire
I've been an EFT practitioner since 2019.
A lot of my work involves helping people with reactions that don't necessarily make much sense to the rational part of their brain.
You can know something is safe and still feel frightened.
You can know you don't need to panic and still find your heart racing.
You can tell yourself to calm down while another part of you appears to have entirely different ideas.
That's one of the reasons I use EFT.
Rather than arguing with the fear or telling you that you're being irrational, I'm interested in what your particular response seems to be connected to.
We'll talk about what happens for you, identify the aspects of flying that trigger the reaction and work with those.
Sessions are private, one-to-one and online via Zoom, so you can do them from home.
And if you're sceptical about tapping, that's absolutely fine.
You don't have to believe it's going to work before we start.
A few things you might be wondering
Can EFT really help with fear of flying?
EFT is an approach used to work with emotional distress, anxiety and fears.
People respond differently, though, and I can't tell you in advance exactly how you'll respond or promise that your fear will completely disappear.
That's one of the reasons I offer the initial call first. I want to understand what's happening for you before I recommend that you spend money working with me.
Is this like the British Airways or EasyJet fear-of-flying courses?
Not quite.
Airline fear-of-flying programmes can be very useful, particularly if understanding aircraft, turbulence, noises and what happens during a flight would make you feel safer.
My work doesn't teach you how aircraft work.
It's private, one-to-one work focused on your particular emotional and physical response to flying and the specific things that trigger it.
They're different approaches, and one isn't automatically right for everybody.
If you've already done a fear-of-flying course and understand the mechanics of flying but you're still frightened, that's something we can talk about on the initial call.
What if I don't know why I'm frightened?
That's fine.
You don't need to arrive with an explanation.
You might know exactly when your fear started or you might have been frightened of flying for as long as you can remember.
We can start with what happens now.
I've got a flight coming up. Have I left it too late?
Not necessarily.
Tell me when you're flying when you book the call.
Obviously, the more time we have, the more room we have to work, and I can't promise a particular outcome before your flight.
But don't assume there's no point asking just because the date is getting closer.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on what's happening for you and how you respond.
I won't promise that everybody can resolve a fear of flying in one session.
The usual starting point, if I think I'm able to help, is a private 90-minute session.
We'll discuss whether that's appropriate for you on the initial call.
How much does it cost?
The initial 15-minute Fear of Flying Connection Call is free.
If I think I can help, I'll usually recommend a 90-minute private Fear of Flying session for £195.
I'll explain what I recommend before you make any decision about working with me.
You don't need to convince yourself to stop being frightened
And you don't have to decide today how you're going to fix your fear of flying.
For now, we can spend 15 minutes finding out what's actually happening for you and whether the way I work makes sense.
Because if knowing that flying is safe hasn't been enough so far, perhaps you don't need another person telling you not to be frightened.
Perhaps it's time to work with the part of you that still is.
